Product review of Saal Digital
Hey all! Its not often I put product reviews out there, but I wanted to let you guys all know about my fantastic experience with Saal Digital. I was recently given the opportunity to review a product of my choice by way of a voucher for their services to check out their high-end photographic products. Firstly, I would like to say from start to finish the experience was great!
As you all know, myself and my partner Kraig are travel photographers, and we often find ourselves getting into all kinds of situations where we need to create prints for various followers and sales, so its good to know where you can go to get those products quickly, cost effectively and of course know they are going to be good enough quality for your clients. So here’s a breakdown of just why Saal Digital was just perfect for us.
This is the first time I have come across Saal Digital so I was not sure what to expect. When I checked out the website the products on offer were pretty good, including not only prints but Photobooks wall décor and greetings cards. My usual go to product for landscape and travel wall décor is usually Acrylic glass so I was delighted that that was available. There were plenty of size choices available but I actually ended up going for Alu-Dibond with direct 6 colour UV printing as I was able to put my custom measurements in that were a couple of centimeters different to the many on the list. The cost was automatically calculated for me. Theres many professional features too like software download and ICC Profiles.
I ordered my Aluminum custom sized wall art on a Thursday at around 11AM. By 2PM I received an email with a dispatch notice and a DHL tracking number. At this point I was quite excited, as I didn’t expect such a quick dispatch. With other companies I usually wait several days for a dispatch notice so this made me excited to see the final work
Delivery & Packaging
I received the Alu-Dibond by 2pm on Monday. It was packed extremely well and securely and I signed for it on arrival. As my item is large I paid around £10 postage but smaller items are £5.95.
My anticipation was not let down! Upon opening the package I was really pleased with the quality and overall finish of the piece. It has a smooth matt surface. The aluminum front is neatly mounted onto a black backing before being finished with another sheet of aluminum on the back, perfect for my mounting plates. You can opt to have the work pre-mounted in various ways too, but I have my own adhesive plates so I used those, but once my stocks run out I would likely use those provided by Saal Digital. My one small let down was one of the corners was not 100% flush, but I sanded this down smooth with no issues, it was around 0.5mm so not really something you would notice unless you were looking for it!
Well as I’m sure you will have guessed I’m over the moon with the final print and I would be happy to give this product to any of my clients, there is no reason why you couldn’t ship such an item directly to your buyer (As a reseller you also get between 10-40% off orders with proof of business) and the packing sheet didn’t include any costs of the printing in there, so easy to send it straight to customers. I would definitely recommend Saal Digital to any fellow photographers! For more great info on using the software check out Ollie Taylor’s blog HERE. I love the way the work sat so flush on the wall, and that I could customise the print sizing to my precise needs.
